Antoine Semenyo names Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew as players he looks up to

Ghana striker, Antoine Semenyo has named Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew as players he looks up to.

In his second season in the Premier League, Semenyo has been in sensational form this season for AFC Bournemouth, scoring eight goals and providing two assists.

The striker will hope to translate his red-hot form to the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic next month.

Speaking to Premier League TV, the 24-year-old highlighted the impact of Gyan and Ayew on Premier League TV.

“Obviously Andre Ayew is playing with the team currently, and Gyan is there at games sometimes, so I always speak to him [Dede Ayew] and he tells me to keep going, and tells me the ability I have, he did not have it at his age. So, he tells me to keep going and pushing myself. Whenever I feel like I reach a level, I should go again.”

Asamoah Gyan said the same thing and told me to keep working. When you get your chance you score, enjoy the moment but also keep pushing yourself and make sure you continue getting over the bar. So, I feel like those two as a kid when growing up, as Ghanaians we watched them a lot. At World Cups, Premier League that’s all we watch. So yeah they are great examples,” he added.

Semenyo has scored two goals for Ghana with his latest coming in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola in March 2023.

Meanwhile, Semenyo is expected to be named in Black Stars squad for the upcoming two games.
