Nsoatreman FC coach Maxwell Konadu believes that local players should have a place in the Black Stars to revitalize local football.
Despite playing in the local league, these players have been largely overlooked for call-ups to the national team.
As a former assistant coach of the Black Stars, Konadu thinks it’s high time that local players are given opportunities in the national team to bolster the performance of the Ghana Premier League.
“I think the Ghana Football Association should allocate slots for our local players in the senior national team, the Black Stars, to enhance the performance of the Ghana Premier League,” he expressed during an interview with Onua FM.
Meanwhile, Otto Addo, the head coach of the Black Stars, is expected to announce his squad soon for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR) next month.
Ghana will face Mali at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako on June 6, before hosting CAR at the Baba Yara Stadium on June 10.
