Henry Asante Twum, Director of Communications for the Ghana Football Association, has stated why the Ghana Football Association opted to form new national teams.
About a month ago, the GFA increased the number of women’s national teams to nine by introducing five new divisions.
Asante Twum has now revealed that a lot of talents don’t get the opportunity to transition to the senior women national team, the Black Queens, hence the decision to create these teams.
“Now, at the moment, we have only three national teams. We have the Black Maidens, which is the U17,” he told Daily Guide Network TV.
“We’ve got Black Princesses, which is the U20, and the Senior National Team, which is the Black Princesses.
“In between these three national teams, we realize that we lose a lot of talent, you know, whilst these players are transitioning from one team to the other.
“So the Executive Council, thinks there is the need for us to begin or start early, which is why we now have U16 national team.”
