The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has challenged Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club players to demonstrate that they are capable of improving the club’s poor performance.
He made this statement during a meeting with the team earlier today, as Kotoko struggles in the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season.
The club ranks 11th in the 18 team league standings at the time of publication and has a draw and six losses in seven games in the second half of the league season.
In the lead up to the end of the first round, Kotoko had four wins and a draw in the month of December and ranked second in the league standings.
However, Kotoko’s form has taken a terrible turn prompting The Asantehene to make the call and challenge members of the playing unit.
“I am expecting something better from you” he said before briefly touching on Kotoko’s under fire head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum’s standing with the club stating,
“Prove to me that you are capable and if the coach is the problem, then I will take a decision on him. But for now, make sure you go and play and win.”
Kotoko will face league leaders FC Samartex on Sunday, April 21 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi at 15:00 GMT.
