Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey has shared the lessons he learned from his time in the Black Stars camp during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 26-year-old revealed he learned to be patient and wait for his time, and also to increase the level of his intensity when on the ball.
Speaking to his club, the former Inter Allies man said, “When I joined the Black Stars camp, I learned so many things. Football is not about rushing, it is about patience.
“If you rush when playing football, you’ll make mistakes. I’ve also learned that when you are on the ball your intensity should be high.”
Despite many calls for Lamptey to be deployed during the tournament, head coach Chris Hughton did not use him in a single game.
He was one of three local players named in Ghanas final squad for the tournament in Ivory Coast.
Ghana missed out on a place in the Round of 16 after finishing third in a group consisting of Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique.
The Black Stars lost 2-1 to Cape Verde before back to back 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique confirmed Ghana’s elimination from the tournament.
