Stephen Appiah, Asamoah Gyan grace commissioning of AstroTurf in Nalerigu

Renowned former Black Stars players, featuring the likes of Stephen Appiah, Asamoah Gyan, Laryea Kingston, and Emmanuel Armah Senegal, gathered in Nalerigu, the North East Regional capital, this past Sunday for the grand unveiling of the Naa Sheriga Stadium.

This state-of-the-art football complex, a pioneering initiative for Nalerigu, was meticulously crafted under the supervision of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The stadium’s overarching purpose is to cater to the residents of Nalerigu and its adjacent areas.

The inauguration of this football haven was graced by the esteemed presence of Black Stars legends, who added to the prestige of the occasion as special guest players for the inaugural football match.

Vice President Bawumia, in a ceremonial act, officially inaugurated the complex, emphasizing its pivotal role and symbolic importance for the local community.

Stephen Appiah assumed the captaincy of one local side, partnering with Armah Senegal. Concurrently, Asamoah Gyan led another local team, with Laryea Kingston as his teammate, creating an engaging spectacle that resonated with the audience through their on-field camaraderie.

Named in honor of the late Overlord of Mamprugu, Na Sheriga, the Naa Sheriga Stadium boasts cutting-edge facilities, comprising changing rooms, offices, a standard astro turf, a VIP stand, and strategically positioned 1000-seater stands at opposite ends of the pitch.
