Arsenal Women’s goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger reveals her wife is pregnant with their first child as she shares ultrasound photos of their ‘special gift’ on Boxing Day

Arsenal goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger has announced she will become a mother by sharing news of her ‘special gift’ on social media.

    • On Christmas Day, Zinsberger took to Instagram to announce that she and her wife Madeleine are expecting their first child. The couple made a shared post, with photos of ultrasound scans as well as the Arsenal star cradling her wife’s bump.

WSL star Zinsberger and wife Madeleine captioned their joint Instagram post: “A special gift this year. Our family is now growing and we couldn’t be happier. Little Baby Zinsberger is on its way.”

The couple signed off the post with the hashtag ‘#june2024’, the expected due date of the baby.

  • The special news comes after a tough few months for Zinsberger. The Austrian goalkeeper signed a new contract with the Gunners in May, but her future looks uncertain with Arsenal expected to renew their efforts to sign England number one Mary Earps from Manchester United in January.

  • Zinsberger will return to action after the WSL winter break, when Arsenal take on Watford in the FA Women’s Cup on January 14, although this season Jonas Eidevall has played back-up keeper Sabrina D’Angelo in the cups. Whatever happens on the pitch, Zinsberger now has something much more important to look forward to.
