Jackson and Pochettino

“If you compare Nico to different strikers who come to his age in a new league, he still scores goals. He’s young, it’s his first season in the Premier League, the expectations are huge, we are Chelsea. Blame the whole team, not him alone,”  said the Argentine coach.

Nicolas responds to criticism

Since the start of the season, Nicolas Jackson has been constantly criticized. Despite a hat-trick against Tottenham, the former Villarreal player is not unanimous. Asked about his season, the Senegalese striker responded to criticism of him:  “It’s OK, it’s not what I was looking for, even if it’s my first season, so I’m happy, even if everything the world says shit, I’m very happy. I don’t care what people say ,” he said, before driving the point home, “It’s just people who don’t know football. I’ll just continue to play more matches and score more goals for the team.

“I should have scored more because I missed a few chances. The Premier League is different from La Liga, where I come from. I’m trying to adapt.

” That’s not an excuse. I try to continue to work harder and listen to people. Not people who don’t know football, I listen to the coach who knows more and I try to improve. »

Chelsea’s sad statistic after defeat to Wolverhampton

Qualified for the semi-finals of the League Cup last Tuesday, after a victory on penalties against Newcastle, Chelsea fell back into their mistakes at Molineux against Wolves . After this defeat, Mauricio Pochettino and his players offered themselves a sad statistic on the local but also European scene.

By losing against Wolverhampton, the London club conceded their 8th defeat of the season in the league, the fourth in a row away from home. Over the entire calendar year, the Blues represent, with 19 defeats in the Premier League, one of the worst teams on a European scale. In the five main European championships, only Empoli in Italy (20 defeats), Werder Bremen in Germany (20) and Almeria in Spain (24) have lost more than the residents of Stamford Bridge.

Mauricio Pochettino and his men will be expected next Wednesday against Crystal Palace, for the 19th and final day of the first leg of the championship. A new defeat could change the destiny of Mauricio Pochettino on the bench of 2021 European champion. Currently 10th in the ranking, the Blues are not doing better than during the 2022-2023 season where they finished in 12th place in the final ranking of the Premier League.
